Achieving Design Continuity at Jewelers Mutual

On the Jewelers Mutual project, our A&D partner, Little Architecture, envisioned a seamless, cohesive aesthetic where the ceiling elements flowed perfectly into the custom millwork and cabinetry. There wasn’t room for small, clashing design differences. As the project’s wall baffle and ceiling panel provider, Premier Concepts worked closely with our A&D partner to ensure everything was a perfect match.

The Challenge: Avoiding The “Close Enough” Dilemma

In high-end commercial interiors, architects and designers frequently face a recurring frustration: material fragmentation.

Traditionally, cohesive design is achieved by specifying a “stain-to-match” requirement for different trades. However, because ceiling panels, wall baffles and cabinetry often come from different manufacturers using different wood species or finishing processes, the result is often a “near miss” finish that isn’t quite cohesive and clashes under office lighting. That couldn’t happen on the Jewelers Mutual project.

Premier Concepts intervened to eliminate the guesswork. Rather than relying on site-applied stains or disparate wood veneers, we utilized our Perfect Match laminate technology.

The Premier Concepts Solution: Perfect Match

Premier Concepts identified the exact laminate used for the casework by working with the project’s millworkers and laminate manufacturers. Then, we engineered and manufactured custom wood panel ceilings and vertical baffles using that identical laminate surfacing.

Unified aesthetic

Every ceiling baffle and overhead panel was an exact DNA match to the cabinetry provided by the millworker.

Consistency

Unlike natural wood grain, which varies by flitch, the Perfect Match laminate ensured 100% color and grain consistency across large spans of the ceiling.

Collaborative execution

Premier Concepts worked closely with Precision Walls to ensure the installation of these custom components integrated seamlessly with the surrounding wall systems.

The Perfect Match™ solution allowed us to bridge the gap between the ceiling and the casework, providing the architect with the exact finish they intended without the usual risks of site-staining or wood variance.
